Recently my sister-in-law and her husband went to the Dominican Republic, and while they were there they took this photograph:

I don't know what's going on, but it's a really striking visual. (image via my sister-in-law, who shall remain nameless)
I love everything about this photograph: the colors, the balance, the proportions and the “what is happening?” feeling it leaves you with. I can see a BIG print of this leaning on or hanging above one of the console tables pictured below. Blue would pick up the sky, green would highlight the trees, and yellow would make the road lines or those few bright yellow bottles pop into focus.

Pick a table...any table. Distressed Blue Console (source unknown); Green Console from Nest Dallas (image via nestdallas.com); Vintage Yellow Console from Jayson Home and Garden (image via Jayson Home and Garden).
Consider trying the same furniture/accessory coordination technique to make colors pop in some of your favorite photographs, whether they’re your wedding or vacation pictures, or from one of your favorite artists. In fact, if you have a photo you’re trying to incorporate into your home send it to me and I’ll give you some suggestions and feature it in a future post!
