This time of year is a spectacular time…not just for the holidays, but because it’s the time that Pantone announces its Color of the Year! The edict is meant to forecast trends in the fashion and home arenas, and it typically has a good amount of influence on designer’s forthcoming lines. For 2012, it’s going to be Tangerine Tango: a strong, vibrant red-orange hue that’s just as warm as it is attention-getting.
I love it with pink, brown, navy, or even bright white. It’s probably actually a great match with last year’s COTY, Honeysuckle. It’s a pretty versatile shade for being so strong.
…and if you’ll allow me to digress for a second, does it make anyone else chuckle that even Pantone’s own photographs (like the one above) feature a “tangerine tango” spread with many, MANY, different shades of orange? I thought they were the color science masters, surely their graphic designers can figure out how to match the border to the photograph of their merchandise, right? Ahh well, this is very tongue-in-cheek seeing as how I’m a designer of interiors and not graphics. So let’s get back on track…
Naturally, as you may have anticipated, this week’s Color Friday is….you guessed it – Tangerine Tango! Here are my picks:

I love this! I was all about honeysuckle in 2011, and I’m so excited to rock this exciting shade of coral in 2012!
