Color Friday is: Olive Green!

4 Nov

At a certain point in the Fall, the color of being outside morphs from a springy bright green to a more sedate and strong olive green. That time has definitely come for me this year! Olive green is a bold hue, but at the same time it can function like a neutral. Pair it with browns and creams and it blends in to the organic palette; but put it next to vibrant blues and aquas and an equally strong navy, and you’ve got an electric color combination! It also works quite well with orange or bright yellow (trust me — try it!). Olive green is the color of many herbs (tarragon, rosemary, sage, the list continues..) which is fitting because you’ll notice in cookbook spreads that things like rosemary are often photographed with lemons or oranges or bright squashes – perfect color combinations for your home, and you didn’t even have to pick up a decorating magazine!  Below are some olive green picks for Fall — hope you enjoy them!

Clockwise from pendant at top: Stamen Pendant Lamp by Niche Modern, $1200 (image via Niche Modern); Alili Green Olives Tapenade, $9 (image via http://www.alilimorocco.com); Papyrus Chair by Kartel, $349 (image via Kartel); Olive You Too Paint from Mythic, available at Land of Nod (image via Land of Nod); Olive Green Outdoor Pot, source unknown but try Home Goods or Marshalls for these at great prices; Trina Turk Needlepoint Shanghai Links Green Pillow, $52 (image via LaylaGrayce); Dark Green 19th Century Leather Chairs from Gary Rubenstein Antiques, price for pair upon request, (image via FirstDibs.com); Felt Basket from CB2, $29.50 (image via CB2)

I’d love to hear what you’re pairing olive green with this season! There are so many options, so don’t be timid!
