Color Friday is: Blood Orange

The paint and the peel are a perfect match! The shade is "Blood Orange" by the Sydney Harbour Paint Company. (L image via House Beautiful, R image via Leite's Culinaria)

I’m surrounded by toy construction vehicles and a tiny person who regularly devours clementines on a daily basis, so orange is a color that I have had to come to peace with.  At one point it was the only color that really turned me off, but over the past several years I’ve truly grown to like it.  See here for yourself how I’ve come around — this is one of my favorite posts from last year that highlights the bright and happy marriage of red and yellow.

Blood Orange, as opposed to orange or tangerine or red-orange, is an interesting shade because of its depth.  In nature, a blood orange has such a rich color because the purple-ish undertones show through the peel ever so slightly, resulting in a shade that’s cooler than your usual orange but just as power-packed (arguably, more so).  It’s perfectly paired with red, blue, yellow and green — a versatile shade and a bold choice in every application.

Here is your Color Friday collage featuring Blood Orange, which injects a little bit of my world into the usual elegance of Color Friday.  Have a great weekend, and enjoy!
